Crowns

A sustainable solution for weakened molars

Crowns

Sometimes a tooth or molar almost only consists of filling material, which makes it very weak. If this tooth or molar can no longer be saved with a normal filling, you can choose a crown.

A crown is a cap that is placed over the existing tooth. When placing the crown, we first look at the shape, colour and function of the original tooth. To create space for the crown to be placed, the tooth must be shaved down.

At Dental Practice Diemen-Zuid we use modern ceramic crowns. This allows us to shave down the tooth only where necessary, in that way we leave the healthy tooth tissue intact as much as possible.

The crown, made in the colour of your teeth, is glued down with a special cement. In that way it becomes part of the tooth and the crown will feeling, function and look like a normal tooth.

Crown on implant

A normal crown is placed over an existing tooth or molar. However, it sometimes happens that an existing tooth or molar has to be removed. In that case, its root can be replaced by an implant, or an artificial root. The crown is then placed on the implant.
